Coach Holley

Troy Holley, the assistant basketball coach at Jesuit High school, has been named Head Basketball Coach at Archbishop Rummel High School, beginning in August, 2008.
He will replace Steve Alfonso as head coach of the Raider basketball program.  Alfonso resigned as Archbishop Rummel coach last month so he could spend more time with hi
family on the north shore. "I am so excited to be the Raiders’ new coach.  I am following great traditions of basketball excellence at Rummel and I am elated to be back coaching in the Catholic League.  This league is, without a doubt, the best basketball league in the state,” Holley said.           
Prior to Holley’s one-year stint at Jesuit, he was Head Basketball Coach at De La Salle High School from 2002 through 2007.  During that time he sported a 106 win, 67 loss overall record for the Cavaliers.    As DLS coach, his team was named District Champions in 2005 and 2006.  For the championships, he was named Times-Picayune Metro Coach of the Year, District Coach of the Year twice, Orleans Parish Coach of the Year, and Clarion-Herald Coach of the Year.  In addition, in 2006 he was named by USA Today as one of the Top Ten Caring Coaches in America.  Phil Greco, Rummel athletic director, said, “We had an extensive coach search and we are very happy to have Troy Holley join our Raider coaching staff.”   Before going to De La Salle in 2002, Holley taught and coached at Christian Life Academy, Brother Martin High School, and Metairie Park Country Day School.   He is a Redeemer High School and Loyola University alumnus and will teach social studies in the classroom.   “Now that I am no longer an assistant coach, I will feel all the pressure to be successful.  I can never let my guard down,” Coach Holley added.
