Raider Marching/Concert Bands

The Archbishop Rummel band
program is a co-educational program in conjunction with Archbishop Chapelle High
School. The Raider Band season is divided into two parts. The first
half, or football season, is spent rehearsing music inside and
performing field drill outside. Preparing a competition field show
for several marching competitions and halftime performances are the
main objectives of the Marching Band. The Marching Band also
performs in three to four Mardi Gras parades each year and performs
at Disney World in Orlando, Florida every two years.
The concert bands are organized at the
end of the football season by separating the marching band into
three separate ensembles by means of a spring band audition. The
three concert bands (symphonic, concert and cadet) perform at large
ensemble festival competitions along with Christmas and spring
concerts. This is a graded Louisiana state accredited honors
instrumental music course offering one full honors credit at the
successful completion of two semesters. It is offered for one period
during the school day, and involves two to three afternoons per week
in the fall semester and one afternoon per week in the spring
semester. All music classes are held in the Christopher Segari
Memorial Music Building.
