Operation HeadStart
Operation HeadStart is a service organization that works with
several at-risk populations in the metropolitan area. In particular,
Operation HeadStart works closely with Project Head Start under the
Jefferson Community Action Program. Project Head Start is a
federally funded program that allows pre-kindergarten aged children
considered to be at-risk to attend school to learn basic skills
getting a "head start" in their education. Members of Operation
HeadStart visit the school and plan numerous activities to help
these young children. This organization also works with other groups
that are in need such as terminally ill children, battered women,
senior citizens, and Alzheimer’s patients. Membership into Operation
HeadStart is by invitation.
