TOTS Rebuilding New Orleans
With a grant from the Brown
Foundation and initial ideas
from Chris Lazarine,
Operation HeadStart brought
the rebuilding process to
the at-risk children. In
the program named TOTS
Rebuilding New Orleans, the
members of Operation
HeadStart including Mr.
Firmin dressed up as Bob The
Builder. They showed the
children how to use tools
such as hammers and saws.
They read to them stories
about using tools and
Clifford the Big Red Dog
helping people in a big
storm. Several members all
wearing hard hats helped the
children prepare gardens to
help beautify their school
and create a welcome sign
for a new HeadStart program
opening soon. The program
took place this past
Thursday and Friday. ( Feb.
7&8). The program came to an
end with the Archbishop
Rummel High School Band Drum
Line playing for the
kids on Friday afternoon.
