Located
in Metairie on Severn Avenue, Archbishop Rummel High School serves as
a gem to the community and offers a learning environment like no
other. Construction on ARHS was completed in 1962, with the
dedication to Archbishop Joseph Francis Rummel. Since then Rummel has
gone through many renovations that have been an enhancement for
student growth and learning as well as to better facilitate athletic
as well as academic extracurricular. Even today Archbishop Rummel
High School still continues to improve and modernize it's campus
grounds and facilities, and will continue to do so far into the
future.
Campus FYI
-
The current student
center, the Raider Room, houses ARHS' vast collection of athletic
trophies. In the Raider Room, students can do their homework, study,
or converse. Currently, in the planning stages, the Raider Room
will be converted into the Genesian Theater and a new Student Center
will be constructed.
-
The ARHS campus is
divided by Severn Avenue. West of Severn is the Junior High Campus,
typically used by the underclassmen (Freshmen and 8th graders). To
the east of Severn is the Senior High Campus which is occupied by
the upperclassmen (Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors).
- The Rummel Gymnasium is used for
sports events, physical education classes, school masses,
ceremonies, and most dances.
-
The best place to study
on campus with the least amount of noise is the Library's Quiet
Area.
-
At Rummel there are
various copmputer labs with Internet access available, for student
use. English teachers staff the writing labs at the lunch periods to
assist students in revising and editing. The Library, Junior High
Lab, Senior High Lab, and the Reading Lab are all accessible.
