Involvement for New Raiders

New eighth and ninth grade students are strongly encouraged to join an extracurricular activity so they can meet new friends, bond with their teachers, and develop Raider Pride. The Big Brothers play a vital role in getting the new Raiders involved. The new Raiders first meet the Big Brothers at New Student Orientation, four days before school starts. Then, every Friday in homeroom for the first semester, the Big Brothers visit the new Raiders to check up on them, get them involved, and answer any questions they may have.
Three ways to get involved immediately and develop Raider Pride are:

Poster Nights
Poster Nights, sponsored by the Big Brothers, are pride competition between eighth and ninth grade homerooms. Days before a big football game, the new Raider homerooms meet with their Big Brothers after school on the main campus to paint posters to hang on the main campus doors. These posters usually contain slogans showing that the Raiders aren't intimidated by the opposing football teams. Participation in these events is free of charge and is not mandatory. It is for students who want to meet friends and girls- local girl high schools are invited to come too.

Pep Rallies
After the poster nights, usually the day before the big game, the school hosts a pep rally at the end of the school day, before school is dismissed. Classes are shortened for this reason, and all students are required to attend. Involvement in this spirit boosting event can be shown by cheering, singing the fight song, and clapping for our team. At the pep rallies, the football team assures the student body that they will try their hardest, the cheerleaders perform, and the Raider Band plays their instruments.

Sporting Events
New Raiders can go to the sporting events for a small price. There, they can watch the Raider football team take on a contender. Each game has a certain theme which students are expected to come dressed as. Such themes are "pajamas," "Westerns," and "Halloween." Students can cheer our football team while watching the gridiron action from the stands.
