Friday, December 1, Mu Alpha Theta met to prepare for their competitions which will take place next semester. Mu Alpha Theta is an international high school and junior college math honor society with national headquarters at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. Members of the club must have completed four semesters of college prep math courses with distinction and be enrolled in a fifth semester of a college prep math course. The club is set to compete in at least three competitions in January, February, and March. Mr David Rodriguez is the moderator of Mu Alpha Theta.
Several of our seniors were recently recognized at our Fall Athletic Awards Ceremony for their academic achievements. Congratulations to Joseph Nugent, who was named to the LHSAA Composite Academic Cross Country Team for all Divisions. The following Raider Seniors were also recognized as they have maintained a 3.5 grade point average or higher based on a 4.0 scale:
Peter Bruno LHSAA Swimming Division 1, Adam Coignet LHSAA Swimming Division 1, Evan Francioni LHSAA Football Class 5A, Jacob Fury LHSAA Football Class 5A, Erik Piedy LHSAA Football Class 5A, and Glen Thurmond LHSAA Football Class 5A.
Congratulations to these Raiders who are prime examples of student athletes!
The 2017-2018 Raider Fishing Club members received their fishing jerseys Thursday, December 7. Thanks to generous donors, this year the club purchased jerseys for each member. Within 5 years of existence, the club has grown from 8 members to 77! Pictured above are some of the current members.

Raider Senior Ja'Marr Chase received his State Championship ring for becoming the LHSAA 5A State Champion in the Long Jump last season with a jump of 24'2.50". Ja'Marr established a new Outdoor School Record with his jump breaking the old School Record that has stood for 35 years. Congratulations Ja'Marr on a successful season!
