Renaissance
The long-standing
Archbishop Rummel High School Renaissance program is being
reenergized for the 2007 – 2008 school year. The program
exists to reward students for excellence and improvement in
academics, attendance, behavior, and involvement and to
foster and cultivate relationships with the local business
community.
The Renaissance Board has consolidated the award levels to
three by combining the third and fourth levels to encompass
the qualities of both. Students meeting the criteria for
the levels receive certificates to highlight their
achievements for each quarter of the school year.
Renaissance also sponsors a catered on campus lunch for all
students who attain a grade point average of 4.0 or better,
a breakfast for all honor roll students, and off campus
lunches for students who earn straight A’s. The year
culminates with a ceremony for all students who have
achieved at the highest levels during the year.
The annual Celebrity Waiters Luncheon, which will be held on
Friday, December 7th at 11:00 am at the New
Orleans Airport Hilton, is sponsored by Renaissance in order
to fund the program. Alumni, local business and political
leaders, and other friends of Archbishop Rummel serve as
guest waiters for the event. Current Raider student
ambassadors assist in all aspects of the event.
Local alumni will be tapped by the Renaissance Board to
serve as guest speakers throughout the year for various
student groups in order to present students with a broad
array of information about the business community and to
expose them to leadership qualities that have led to the
success of so many of our alumni.
To aid in the continued success of our students, Renaissance
is reviving the concept of a College Tour. At the
conclusion of the school year, a group of Archbishop Rummel
students and faculty chaperones will visit several colleges
along the east coast of the United States. Raiders will
have the opportunity to meet with admissions personnel at
all schools, tour the campuses, and participate in various
social outings throughout the tour.
The Renaissance program is a unique Archbishop Rummel
experience and the current board is looking at creative and
innovative ways to continue to reward Rummel students for
excellence and achievement.
