The Purpose of
Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular
activities are provided at Archbishop Rummel High School to appeal to
the interests and needs of the student body. Each student is
encouraged to participate in these activities for his own enjoyment
and development.
These after-school activities are numerous and varied.
Organizations and clubs include participation in academic activities
and projects, fine arts areas, literary work, and community service
projects. The school encourages its students to participate in at
least one extracurricular activity. To become a member of any
organization, a student must contact the moderator of that group.
From morning and lunch time Masses to level liturgies,
team liturgies, and school-wide liturgies, Archbishop Rummel
encourages its members to become active participants in its
worshipping community. All activities begin in acknowledging the
presence of the Lord.
General Activity Award:
an Incentive to Join and a Symbol of Raider Pride
The General
Activity Award is available to students who are actively involved in
numerous extracurricular activities. Each extracurricular activity
listed above is worth a certain amount of general activities points.
To be eligible for an award, a student must have received forty points
from the moderators of the various organizations.
The first time a student wins the General Activity Award,
he receives a certificate; the second time, the Archbishop Rummel
letter and jacket; second, third, and fourth year letterman receive a
service stripe. A senior who has lettered two or more times receives a
plaque.
The certificates, letter jacket, and plaques are an
incentive for students to get involved. At the end of the school year,
those possessions becomes symbols of Raider Pride for the students.
