Life Story
I am born and raised in New Orleans. I am a product of Jefferson
Parish public elementary and junior high schools, Green Park Elementary
and T.H. Harris Junior High School. I came to Rummel in 1980 as a
freshman, and graduated valedictorian of my class. I was a member
of the soccer and tennis teams, as well as a member of The French Club,
The National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Campus Ministry, and Big
Brothers. I was always good in math but I am not sure that I can
say that I enjoyed it; however, I did excel at it so I majored in it at
UNO. I have been a tennis coach in Jefferson Parish for almost
nine years and I was also a manager of Soundwarehouse Music and Video
Store for about three years. I have taught math at Tulane and the
University of New Orleans before coming back to Rummel to teach.
Other Points of Interest:
Mr. Firmin was the Valedictorian
of the 1984 graduating class here at Rummel.
Mr. Firmin has always enjoyed
giving himself to help others, and he carries that in his teaching only
to ask for cooperation in return to meeting him half way. He tries
to make math interesting and fun as well as relevant to the student.
He does not love math, but was good at it and wants others to
excel at it too.
