The curriculum at Archbishop Rummel High School has been carefully developed to carry out the school’s Lasallian mission and provide academic excellence. The curriculum is periodically reviewed and, when needed, revised to meet changing standards and requirements. At all times, certain criteria for achieving academic success and excellence remain constant and focused across the curriculum. These include:
- aligning each academic discipline’s curriculum with the College Readiness Standards identified and assessed by American College Testing, Inc. (ACT)
- teachers teaching in accordance with the designed syllabus for the course
- teachers creating daily lessons with clearly established objectives and procedures
- focusing units of learning on meaningful text and material that connect to real-life applications
- giving each student opportunities to develop then demonstrate proficiency at various levels of skills, processes, and thought, interpretation, and comprehension
- assessing student learning frequently and variously
- providing a caring, discipline environment fostering a Catholic atmosphere in the classroom
Program of Studies
The 4- and 5-year programs of studies at Archbishop Rummel High School are designed to meet or exceed all criteria established by: Louisiana Department of Education (state graduation requirements), Louisiana Tuition Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS scholarships), and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS school accreditation standards). Successful completion of the academic curriculum at Archbishop Rummel High School qualifies graduates to meet the entrance requirements of most colleges and universities in the United States.
