2012 Seniors Get Diplomas at Graduation

The 47th commencement exercises at Archbishop Rummel took place Thursday evening at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.  The program began with the entrance of the graduates and a welcome by salutatorian James Blackburn.  Fr. Pat Wattigny, chaplain, then celebrated mass for the 185 graduates and their families and friends.  When it came time for the commencement ceremonies, Superintendent Jan Lancaster spoke to the graduates before the special awards were presented.  The St. LaSalle medal went to Brandt Becnel and Michael Tortorich, the American Legion award was given to Keith Accardo, and the Archbishop Rummel award went to Tucker Roussel.  Valedictorian Brandt Becnel spoke to the Class of 2012 seniors before they were awarded diplomas by President-Principal Michael Scalco.  The program concluded with singing the Alma Mater and Fight Song and tossing the graduation caps on the Lake Pontchartrain levee.
