FSC Superior General to Visit School Campus

FSC Superior General to Visit School Campus

On Tuesday, October 25th, Brother Alvaro Rodriguez Echeverria, the Superior General of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, will be visiting our school.  Brother Alvaro is in the midst of a pastoral visit to each of the Lasallian schools, universities, ministries, and Christian Brother communities in the United States and Toronto Region.  This marks the first visit of a superior general to Archbishop Rummel High School since our official re-association with the Christian Brothers.  The Superior General begins his visit to the New Orleans – Santa Fe District of our region with a trip to Archbishop Rummel before stopping at each of the other Lasallian schools in the New Orleans area: De La Salle High School on St. Charles Avenue, Christian Brothers School in City Park, and St. Paul’s High School in Covington.

Brother Alvaro, who is in his second seven-year term as Superior General, will be accompanied by Brother Bob Schieler, the General Councilor for the United States and Toronto Region; Brother Tim Coldwell, the Brother Visitor of the New Orleans – Santa Fe District and 1974 graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School; Brother David Sinitiere, Auxiliary Visitor; Brother Peter Tripp, N.O.-S.F. Director of Resources; and Charlie Legendre, N.O.-S.F. Director of Lasallian Mission.

On Tuesday, Brother Alvaro will begin with a tour of our school and a small reception with the faculty in the Brother Raphael Bodin Conference Room.  The Brother Raphael Room is housed in a portion of the school building which was formally the Brothers’ Residence when the Christian Brothers lived in community on campus.  The Superior General will address the Archbishop Rummel students and faculty at a Lasallian prayer service which will begin at 9 a.m. in the gymnasium.  Brother Alvaro will meet with student leaders after the service and then have lunch with the school’s faculty leadership before leaving for De La Salle High School.
