During the first week of January, the Raider Jazz Band performed for the reopening of the new Lakeshore Library on West Esplanade. During the dedication, the band performed for a number of dignitaries, including Jefferson President John Young, Councilwoman Cynthia Lee-Sheng, Public Library Director Lon Dickerson, and Library Board President Nancy Pearson. Following Hurricane Katrina, the Lakeshore Library was demolished and rebuilt using frunds from FEMA and parish fund raising projects.
