The Rummel Raiders dropped another game in the final minutes, as they lost to the Barbe Bucs, 32-28, last Friday night at Tad Gormley stadium. The game’s lead switched several times back and forth, but at the game’s conclusion, the visiting team from Lake Charles had accumulated the most points.
At the end of the first and second quarters, the two teams were deadlocked. In the first quarter, the Raiders scored Liroy Cage scored via an 85 yard sprint to the end zone. PAT specialist Marc Musso added the extra points as the Raiders tied the game at 7-7. In the next quarter, the Raiders again tied the score on a one yard plunge by sophomore QB Damian Williams. Musso added the tying extra point.
The Raiders jumped ahead in the third quarter when QB Williams ran nine yards to the end zone. Musso added the extra point. J. J. Brown scored the final touchdown of the night for the Raiders on a 29 yard run. Musso again added the extra points. The Raiders kept the lead until 1:26 left in the game when the Buccaneers scored the winning score. The final score read 32-28 Barbe on the City Park scoreboard.
