Thirty-two
students at Archbishop Rummel High School recently competed in
the annual Mu Alpha Theta State Convention in Baton Rouge. The
Metairie school was one of 30 high schools and 800 students from
across the
state participating in mathematics events. In school
competitions, Archbishop Rummel students finished fifth in
one event and seventh in two events statewide. The events and
student participants are as follows:
Pre-Calculus Ciphering team, fifth place in state, and
participants included Luke Corass, Chris Kliebert, Stephen Kudla,
and Eric Stockwell; Algebra II Ciphering team, seventh in state,
and participants included Brad Bonanno, Andrew Fath, Andrew
Gremillion, Ricardo Guerra, Chris Jumonville, Chris LaBauve,
Justin Richard, and Matt Romig; Calculus Ciphering team, seventh
place in state, and participants included Ethan Eilers, Kittu
Pannu, Derek Planchet, Nick Saybe, Ryan Tortorich, Chris Ulfers,
and Carlos Wylie. In individual events, Peter Morreale finished
second in Applications of Calculus test, while his brother Mark
Morreale finished fourth on the
Geometry test.
