2019 Faculty Years of Service
After the end of the year Mass was concluded, Mr. Marc Milano '90, president/principal, presented the faculty years of service awards to deserving faculty and staff members.
10 years
FRED BOLDS
Although our first honoree is not a faculty member, he is recognized by all of us as a kind, dedicated, and loyal member of the school community.  He is task driven and always the first to say “good morning” or “hello” when he greets all of us on campus.  A member of the maintenance staff, he helps keep our campus in tip top shape.  We are fortunate to have Fred Bolds on Severn every day.

20 years
MICHAEL MAHONEY
With one of the most important tasks on campus, Mr. Michael Mahoney prepares his students for the all-important ACT and SAT exams.  This 20-year teacher served the school as assistant principal from 2003 through 2007.  He was instrumental in the school’s response to Hurricane Katrina and the establishment of the Rummel Transition School for displaced boys and girls in city schools.  Thank you, Mr. Mahoney, for all you do each day for our Raiders.

30 years
DEBBIE LOBRANO
Our first of two 30-year honorees are Ms. Debbie Lobrano, who came to Archbishop Rummel as an assistant librarian back in 1989. She moderated the Library Club but was soon elevated to Head Librarian and an academic department chairperson.  Over the years, Ms.  Lobrano has directed the school’s Alternative Program and moderated the National Honor Society and No Place for Hate.  Always ready to work for social justice, she is active in promoting the school’s LaSallian charisms.

30 years
CHARLENE WETZEL
A former Raider cheerleader captain and homecoming court member and then cheerleader coach, Ms. Charlene Wetzel did not miss a Rummel football or basketball game in the 15 years she was involved in the cheerleading program.
She is a science classroom teacher extraordinaire.  Her students will agree that she’s a demanding, no-nonsense teacher, but is always the first one to offer help to a student or teacher. She was a founding member of the Rummel Renaissance program. Just five years ago, she was recognized by the Christian Brothers as Educator of the Year from the San Francisco/New Orleans district. For several years she chaired the very successful Celebrity Waiters Dinner.
Ms. Wetzel has many family members who are part of the Raider legacy, including her husband, Paul, a 1983 alumnus, who was inducted into the athletic Hall of Fame in 2006.  Their son Scott, graduated in 2015, and their daughter, Kerri, was Homecoming Queen in 2016.

35 years
CONNIE CARRIGEE
The lady who keeps the school fiscally sound is Ms. Connie Carrigee, finance director.  She came to Archbishop Rummel in 1984 to work in the finance office, but her expertise quickly moved her up the ladder to head the department.  As the school’s top finance person, Ms. Carrigee has the tough job of collecting tuitions and balancing budgets. She also provides financial reports to the principal and the school board. Over the years she has had two sons graduate from Rummel:  Kevin in 1992 and Kenny in 1997.  An avid Raider supporter, she attends many school events and is a true Raider.

35 years
LYNN SILBERNAGEL
A lady truly dedicated to her students is 35-year honoree Ms. Lynn Silbernagel.  She came to Archbishop Rummel in 1984 to teach English and since that date, she has been a very demanding teacher of composition, but always a fair classroom instructor.  Over the years she has been English Department chairperson but has been involved in many school programs, including moderating the Key Club for two years.   Archbishop Rummel is a better place because of the hard work and dedication of Ms. Lynn Silbernagel.

45 years
DAVID RODRIGUEZ
Today’s final honoree is Mr. David Rodriguez, who came to Archbishop Rummel 45 years ago in 1974.  He originally came to teach mathematics but soon assumed other duties.  He was moderator of the Math League, Mu Alpha Theta, the Chess Club, and was named Mathematics Department chairperson a few years later.  He consistently pushes his students to achieve in the classroom and is quick to say that “Math is Beautiful.”  He and his wife, fellow mathematics teacher Carol Rodriguez, have two sons who are Raider alumni:  Brian in 2002 and Kevin in 2004.  Archbishop Rummel is lucky to have a truly skilled faculty member like Mr. David Rodriguez.
