William Poche Awarded The Downs Family Leadership Scholarship
This year a new scholarship was awarded for the very first time, The Downs Family Leadership Scholarship. This scholarship was established by Corey and Lori Downs in honor of their son, Caleb Downs, a proud member of the Class of 2025.
The Downs family was deeply grateful for the leadership opportunities and formation Caleb experienced during his time at Archbishop Rummel, and they wanted to give back in a meaningful way.
Their goal is simple: to recognize a student who exemplifies true leadership. Someone who leads with integrity, humility, and service, both on and off campus, even when recognition does not always follow.
With the support of Rummel's administration, a group of outstanding student leaders was identified and presented to the Downs family. These young men were then carefully considered and interviewed, each demonstrating the qualities that make our Raider community so strong.
This year's winner has been the driving force behind several impactful initiatives on campus. He has taken the lead in organizing student council grade-level lunchtime activities with his other sophomore class board members. He played a key role in organizing our campus blood drive as an effort that directly impacted lives in our community. He also initiated a donation drive benefiting the Harry Tompson Center, demonstrating a commitment to service beyond our campus. In addition to these accomplishments, he has served in multiple leadership roles within both Student Council and Ambassadors. More importantly, he is the kind of leader who does not wait to be asked. When he sees a need, he steps in, takes initiative, and follows through ensuring that ideas become reality and that every effort reaches the finish line.
