2022 Faculty Years of Service
After the end of the year Mass, Mr. Marc Milano '90,  presented the faculty years of service awards to deserving faculty and staff members.
Honorees for 2021-2022

This year we will honor 6 faculty and staff members for their years of service to Archbishop Rummel High School. One 10-year recipient; three 20-year recipients, and 2 retirees; one with 48 years at Rummel and the other with 29 years. These 6 employees bring a total of 147 years of dedication to our school.  We thank them for always striving to give their best to the students and our school.

10 YEARS OF SERVICE
Mr. Rod Cusachs is our first honoree.  In his 10 years at Archbishop Rummel High School, Coach Cusachs has taught in both the science department and the P.E. department and is currently the head wrestling coach.  Prior to being hired as a full-time faculty member, he worked as an assistant wrestling coach for 6 years.  As head coach, he has led the Raider wrestling team to a state runner up finish in 2009 and district and state championship in 2011, the first time this has happened in the school’s history.  Coach Cusachs has also had several individual state champion wrestlers in various weight classes.

20 YEARS OF SERVICE

With 20 years of service, we honor the following:

CARLOS ARANGUREN
Our first 20-YEAR honoree is Mr. Carlos Aranguren, a member of our maintenance staff. Mr. Aranguren has been a loyal and dedicated employee of our school. He can be seen all around campus helping to keep both the outside campus clean, as well as maintaining the interior of the buildings. Every evening, after all of the activities have ended, he is responsible for locking and securing the campus. We thank Mr. Aranguren for his dedication to our school.

LOUIS BURG
Our next 20-year honoree I Mr. Louis Burg. Mr. Burg was hired in 2002 to teach in the Social Studies department. He has taught US History, World History, Civics, AP Government, Law and Contemporary Issues. He has held the position of Social Studies Department Chair for many years.  Mr. Burg also worked with the Raider track team as an assistant coach and as the head coach of the cross-country team. Prior to teaching at Rummel, he taught for 5 ½ years at St. Stanislaus, Slidell High School, and Bonnabel High School.

TIMOTHY BURNS
Our last 20-year honoree is Mr. Timothy Burns. Coach Burns is our Food Service Director.  Before putting on a chef’s hat, Coach Burns taught in the Social Studies and PE departments.  He coached the varsity soccer team, serving as head coach for 8 years.  He also coached the 8th grade football team and the JV baseball team.  Prior to coming to Rummel, he taught for 18 years at other schools including St. Paul’s, St. Stanislaus, Trinity Episcopal, and St. Martin’s Episcopal. Besides being a dedicated employee, Coach Burns is the proud Raider parent of Timothy “Pepper” Burns, Jr., class of 2008.

RETIREES
Ms. CAROL RODRIGUEZ: 29 years of service.

Ms. Rodriguez began her Rummel career in 1993 as a mathematics teacher. Known as a challenging and dedicated teacher, she always gets the most out of her students. In 2004, the Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics named her the outstanding math teacher of the year.  Ms. Rodriguez also serves as the Math Club moderator. Upon retiring, she plans to travel to different countries with her husband and fellow math teacher, Mr. David Rodriguez.

Ms. Rodriguez would like to leave us with an inspirational quote by Michaelangelo:

"The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high, and we miss it, but that it is too low, and we reach it."  Thank you, Ms. Rodriguez.

Mr. DAVID RODRIGUEZ: 48 years of service.

Mr. Rodriguez was hired in August of 1974 to teach mathematics. He quickly assumed other duties. He has moderated the Math League, the Chess Club, and is the current moderator for Mu Alpha Theta. His teams have had much success in competitions throughout the years. Mr. Rodriguez is currently the Math Department Chairperson. He constantly pushes his students to achieve in the classroom and is quick to say that “Math is Beautiful.”  He and Ms. Rodriguez, are the proud parents of two Raider alumni sons: Brian class of 2002 and Kevin class of 2004. Throughout the past 48 years, Archbishop Rummel High School has been blessed to have such a skilled faculty member like Mr. David Rodriguez. Thank you, Mr. Rodriguez.
