Congratulations to senior Zach Smith for being named a Chevron Scholar Athlete!
In support of local student-athletes pursuing higher education, Chevron is the presenting sponsor of the High School Scholar Athlete of the Week award that recognizes a male and female high school senior from the Greater New Orleans area. Zach was recognized at the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation Quarterback Club Meeting.
This past Saturday, Raider Band musicians from Rummel and Chapelle were invited to represent New Orleans at the annual LMEA All State Second Round Auditions. Following this highly competitive process, 6 Raider Band students placed into the prestigious All State Symphonic and Jazz Bands--twice as many as any other New Orleans public, private, or Catholic school and more than the Raider Band has had in at least 10 years! Three students even placed FIRST PLACE in the entire state on their instrument. All State Band members for this year include:
Sarah Grosse—All State Jazz, First place vocalist in Louisiana
Noah Vicknair—All State Jazz, First place guitar player in Louisiana
Sara Vollenweider—All State Symphonic Band, first place french horn player in Louisiana
Spencer Roques—All State Concert Band
Abby Southworth—All State Concert Band
Rachel Vigelis—All State Symphonic Band
Congrats to these Raider Band members!
Congratulations to all of our Raider Band Alumni and Alumnae who have gone on to continue showing their talents in college! We have a total of seventeen alumni in college bands representing several different universities.
The Raider Band is a co-educational program unlike any other Catholic high school band in the New Orleans metro area. Our directors work to form an alliance that fosters a uniquely inclusive experience for our students and our community.
