Summer Orientation 2025
*For New, Incoming 8th and 9th Graders 

​Dates: Wednesday, June 18-Friday, June 27 (Weekdays only)
Times: 8:00 am-12:00 pm

Dear New and Incoming Students and Parents,
As we prepare for Summer Orientation, we have a lot of important details to provide in regards to next week.

Very Important!!!! Please take the time to fill out the following form so we can have the most accurate count for our Orientation program.

Orientation Details
Date: 6/18- 6/20 & 6/23- 6/27
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (On the days of Thursday the 26th & Friday the 27th we will end between 12:30 & 12:45)
Location: Archbishop Rummel High School- 1901 Severn Ave. Metairie, LA  70001

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Information
Drop-Off:
Students will enter through the Front Gate under the overhang on Severn. 
Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. We will begin Orientation everyday promptly at 8:00a.m. Students should arrive on-time and early enough to be seated in the Genesian Theatre for when we begin.
Staff members and Big Brothers will be present to assist and guide students to the orientation location.
Pick-Up:
Students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m.
Thursday, 6/26 & Friday, 6/27 pickup will be between 12:30 & 12:45 p.m.
There will not be a designated pick-up line, however students may get picked up either on North Hullen, 41st Street, or the front parking lot on Severn.

Dress Code for Orientation
To promote a respectful and focused environment during orientation, we ask that all students adhere to the following dress code:
Shirts: Students must wear a collared shirt. *See photos below.
Pants: Students must wear khaki or dark-colored pants with a belt.
Shoes: Closed-toe shoes are required. Tennis shoes or dress shoes are acceptable.
Accessories: Hats, caps, and any other head coverings are not permitted inside the school buildings. A student may wear one small gold or silver necklace, and it must contain either one cross/crucifix or one Christian medal.  Thick rope-like chains are not permitted. Earrings and posts or any type of skin piercing jewelry are not allowed at school or any school activity, such as athletic contests, school related events, dances or proms. A student may wear one bracelet only if it is religious in nature.
T-shirts: Students will receive one orientation t-shirt and will be able to wear them on designated days. An announcement will be made the day before they will be able to wear the t-shirts. The dates will most likely be, Friday 6/20, Wednesday 6/25, & Thursday 6/26

Grooming and Hair Policy
At Archbishop Rummel High School, we have specific grooming and hair standards that all students must adhere to:
Hair must be neat, clean, and well-groomed.
Extreme hairstyles, including but not limited to mohawks, shaved designs, or unnaturally colored hair, are not permitted.
Students must be clean-shaven. Beards, mustaches, and other facial hair are not allowed.
Hair must not fall below the eyebrows, over the ears, or touch the collar.
Please ensure your child meets these requirements for orientation.

Cell Phone Policy
To minimize distractions and ensure a productive orientation experience, we have implemented the following cell phone policy:
Upon check-in, all students will be required to turn in their cell phones or place them in their lockers.
Phones will be securely stored and returned to students at the end of the orientation session.

Chromebooks
Students must bring their chromebooks to orientation beginning on Thursday, June 19th. Students do not need to bring their chromebooks the first day of orientation.

Permission Slips
Students will receive a hard copy of the Permission Slips on Wednesday, June 18th. Permission slips are due Tuesday, June 24th.
