Rummel football is recognized around New Orleans and around the country as one of the premier high school programs, and it is built so a Raider grows up inside it: an eighth grade team, a ninth grade team, JV, and varsity.
A new Raider does not wait his turn to put on pads. Eighth graders field their own team his first fall, and the varsity spring tryout is where the depth chart starts over every year.
Three state championships, and district titles across six different decades.
District champions in 1973, 1974, 1980, 1985, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2019. The R went on the helmet in 1972, and it has stayed busy since.
