Chemical Engineering in Engineering Classes
Recently, our engineering students studied chemical engineering when they investigated the changing states of matter, chemical reactions, and the properties of ice and salt while trying to make ice cream.
The lesson took place over two days. On day one, students used minimal ingredients to create ice cream; and on day two, students added different ingredients. Throughout the lesson, students had to document the phase changes in a chart to determine how various ingredients can create different results.
