Special Mass to Recognize Ms. Gayle Benson for Charitable Donation and Commemorate Archbishop Rummel High School's 60th Anniversary
Archbishop Gregory Aymond presided over Mass on Thursday, December 1, at Archbishop Rummel High School as a dual celebration to commemorate the school’s 60th anniversary and recognize the Gayle and Tom Benson Charitable Foundation for its generous gift to the school. New Orleans Saints owner and Pelicans governor Gayle Benson, through the Gayle and Tom Benson Charitable Foundation, gifted $5 million to Archbishop Rummel High School, showing her commitment to increasing access to Catholic education by providing funding for scholarships. The gift will be used specifically to fund an endowment with a long-term goal to raise money to fund Archbishop Rummel High School’s tuition assistance program.
Mrs. Benson attended the Mass on December 1, and was recognized by Head of School Marc Milano.
“The Foundation’s gift establishes an endowment for our school that will help us make Catholic education more accessible to young men,” said Marc Milano, Head of School at Archbishop Rummel. “We are grateful to Mrs. Benson for this gift that will benefit our school for years to come, and we look forward to expressing our gratitude.”
"I am humbled and thrilled to provide this gift to Archbishop Rummel High School through the Gayle and Tom Benson Charitable Foundation,” said Gayle Benson. “Young men being able to access Catholic education in our community is vital to the future of this city. Marc Milano has done an exceptional job as Head of School, and it brings me great joy to know that this gift is in good hands.”
