Overview


Archbishop Rummel High School is an Archdiocesan Catholic High School for young men and is administered and staffed by lay men and women. Archbishop Rummel primarily serves the sons of Catholic families on the East Bank of Jefferson Parish.

The purpose of the school is to educate, according to the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. In this endeavor, the Archbishop Rummel community educates young men of varied backgrounds and abilities and strives to develop the intellectual, physical, social, moral, and spiritual well-being of each individual, challenging him to be a living witness to Catholic values in the world today. Thus, in keeping with the LaSallian tradition, it is the philosophy of Archbishop Rummel High School to educate the whole person.

The school is dedicated to the principles of American democracy and endeavors to develop in students high ideals as well as a willingness and ability to work for the greater good of all people. It challenges each student to reach his full potential in life to become a happy, well-adjusted, productive member of his community, society, church and the world.

Within an academic program that is college preparatory, Archbishop Rummel High School attempts to meet the academic needs of each student by using appropriate means to identify individual differences among students and to provide an educational program for students that truly addresses their personal educational needs. Course content, discipline, and procedures to accomplish this purpose are determined through various committees and departments in cooperation with the administration.

Furthermore, this holistic approach to learning places due emphasis on the recognition of the dignity of the individual and the consequential development of each student to his fullest potential. The school believes that all students may learn and achieve at their maximum ability. The school strives to provide instruction of high quality in an environment that is conducive to learning. Archbishop Rummel High School promotes the highest standards for maximum individual growth and total development of each young man.

Archbishop Rummel High School educates each student according to the principles of the Catholic Church in the Lasallian tradition of faith, community, and service. In a caring, disciplined environment of social awareness and academic excellence, Archbishop Rummel High School challenges each student to recognize the dignity of life and to develop and share, to the best of his ability, his unique talents.
