Quiz Bowl Defeats Jesuit in St. Paul's Tournament
Congratulations to the Raider Quiz Bowl team who competed in their first in-person tournament in two years this past Saturday at St. Paul's School in Covington. After losing their first round match against Jesuit, the Raiders won their next four rounds, defeating Ben Franklin 395 to 150, St. Paul's B 300 to 140, St. Martin's 425 to 55, and St. Paul's A 390 to 180. The Raiders earned a bye for the first round of the playoffs with their 2nd place seeding. The Raiders then defeated their semifinals opponent St. Paul's A 350 to 170 setting up a Championship showdown between Rummel and Jesuit. Our players battled back and forth with the Blue Jays throughout the round until the Championship depended on the very last toss-up question. Our Rummel Raiders defeated Jesuit in the Championship 320 to 265 in a stunning victory.
We would like to recognize Andrew Perdomo, Jason Lafourcade, Diego Swonger, Blake Waguespack, Evan Guidry, William Salvaggio, and Colby Rice for their impressive performances. A special congratulations is in order for sophomore Andrew Perdomo who won 1st place as an individual with his performance on the day, a personal best. Congratulations Raiders!
