Robotics Team Competes in the Beach Bot Battle
Archbishop Rummel competed in the annual summer competition at Gulfport High School called the Beach Bot Battle. Our Robotics team had three key team members compete for the trophies: Joshua Sofio, Brandon Nguyen, and Brian Weidenbacher. The Robotics team designed, assembled and tested the robot over the first quarter of this year with the help of many other members of the team. The competition team helped transport, prepared the robot, maintained the heat schedules, drove, navigated for the robot, fed the robot test articles, and made any minor repairs.
In attendance were 13 teams from Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas. The format of the competition was 3 robotic teams against 3 other teams. The teams had to pick up cones and inflated squares and deliver them to a scoring area. They also had to drive and balance on a balancing platform with two other teams.
The contest winners were team 16 Bomb Squad from Mountain Home AK, team 364 Fusion from Gulfport Mississippi, and team 5971 Raider Robotics (Rummel Team from Metairie ). The annual 3 D printed award was given out to each of the teams. Way to go, Raiders!
The students enjoyed the competition and the exposure to other STEM robotics teams and look forward to the next competition.
